Cup of tea, photographs of my niece, one Christmas ornament that didn't make it back into the box (a yarn and twig star) a clipping from the Financial Times, and the Grove Book of Opera Singers.
2. What is your favourite holiday?
I will keep on stubbornly idealizing Christmas, no matter what reality throws at it.
3. What is one item of clothing you wish you could always wear?
Elegant hat.
4. Books, hard cover or soft cover?
All.
5. What do you hear right now?
A clock ticking and my fingers on the keyboard. I think the far-off, dull roar is the nearest busy road (we're pretty far from the Pike but the sound carries on clear nights.)
6. Who was the last person you hugged?
My mother.
7. What random song just popped in your head now?
"Shanghai Lil" from "Footlight Parade"
8. What did you do today?
WROTE an original STORY! Did three loads of laundry, washed dishes, went for a walk, wrote down a fairy tale for spoothbrush's b-day, mended and re-blocked a hat, brushed all the snarls out of my hair, read. Wasted time on the Internet. Listened to a bunch of music. Ate, washed, etc.
9. What was the last text you received?
Something about a weather emergency back in January.
What was the last item of new clothing your purchased?
Yet another long black skirt, about a month ago.
10. What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Work email, other email. LJ/DW, Facebook.
11. What is your next big planned purchase?
I have a $35 maximum bid on eBay for a pocket watch.
12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I'd get a Pullman in a railway car and take a train trip across the country to see it, and take a circuitous route so I could see people I care for on the way. Then I'd go to Hawaii and see people there (if they'd have me.)
13. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I'd prefer not to say.
14. Where's your tattoo/Where would you like a tattoo?
No. And no.
15. What are you doing this weekend?
Going to work.
16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
I would love to be able to play the piano well enough to accompany myself when I sing, a la Bertie Wooster. Also I have long harbored a desire to play the cello.
17. Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
Nizhny Novgorod.
18. Are you a creeper?
More of a bouncer.
19. What is your dream job?
The one I have, but with the hours moved around so I could do more theater. (I did in fact dream about being in a play last night.)

"Gloooooooooooomy Su-uhndaaaaaaaaaaay"
21. Recommend a thing.
Hot water bottles in bed. Even if you don't have a proper one a tonic water bottle filled with hot water works just fine.
