"Up With the Lark", lyrics (possibly imperfectly transcribed by me) by Leo Robin (heh-heh), lovely, deceptively singable melody by Jerome Kern (he loved to write these songs that functioned perfectly well as pop songs but were really elaborate works of composition, like intricately carved banisters you can slide down.)

Nobody else ever has to wake me:
I'm always early to rise.
Somebody said it would make me
Healthy and wealthy and wise.

I was up with the lark this morning;
I love the dawn of the day.
Roosters crow to me,
Crow, "Hello," to me.
Every tree
Says, "Glad to see
Ya."
Cheeks are ruddier.
Buds are buddier.
Glad eyes glow.
Nobody ought to be lazy,
No, no, no!
I'm fresh as a daisy!
I
Feel
So
Wonderful!
I was up with the lark this morning,
I yawned a little, and then
Looked at the clock,
And I rolled right over again.

I was up with the lark this morning
And I'm as gay as a lark!
Birdies sing to me,
Sing of Spring to me.
Daisies bow
And whisper, "How-
Dy."
Dew is dewier.
Cows are mooier.
Soft winds blow.
Nobody ought to be snoozing!
No, no, no!
Think what you are losing!
You'll
Feel
So
Wonderful.
I was up with the lark this morning,
I yawned a little, and then
Promised myself I'd never do it again!

Ha! I love it completely. :-)

I would have loved to roll over this morning. But I missed a FedEx attempted delivery by sleeping in the day before, so I was forced to set and heed my alarm clock, just in case they came at the same time today. Which they did, so my sad lack of sleep was not in vain!
