My paycheck *and* my tax rebate came today! Bank account, welcome back to four digits! How long can I *keep* you there?

I don't know why, because I didn't get the proper amount of sleep last night (I stayed up too late looking at www.regretsy.com, a gallery of ugly, tasteless and feeble things people are trying to sell on etsy and ebay (nothing our dear spoothbrush makes would *ever* end up there) and laughing my head off) but I felt bing back on form today. Accomplished a *couple* of things on my to-do list and processed a trunkload of ancient Johann Strauss piano waltzes (the Rose waltz and the Princess Auguste waltz and the Sleepwalker waltz and the waltz for a particular railway line, all with darling engraved covers (the Devil waltz had a pretty woman in a black ballet dress with horns and a tail- it would work even today as a naughty Halloween costume). I started to notice the things he left *out*- no Pig waltz, no Whig Party waltz, no Uncle Friedrich's Collection of Butterflies waltz, no Interesting-Looking Rock waltz).

The students and I laughed ourselves silly (even our head librarian laughed) at some of the cover photos for some of the biographies we were processing. Especially this one. I will MISS THEM SO (the students, not so much the biographies.) The thing is, of course, that peaches-and-cream skin is not an essential requirement for successful musical composition. But couldn't he have used another picture?

The rents are trying to lose weight (meanwhile, I've *finally* got to the point where I like the size and shape I am) and have imposed various restrictions on themselves. The only thing I'm trying to do is drink lots of water, which does have a salubrious effect on my temper, if today was anything to go by. The Singing Detective eyelids are sticking around, though.
